Youth in Media

Criteria: This award is made to journalists, commentators, photographers, media houses who have, through their intervention, positively contributed to an awareness of the contributions and achievements by young people; promote national youth development and/ or youth empowerment. The recipient must be actively involved in media for at least two years and is a positive role model in media.

Youth in Tourism

The Youth in Tourism Awards are aimed at acknowledging the outstanding contribution that the youth have made to the growth of the tourism industry, an oustanding personality within the industry – An individual within the tourism, hospitality and events industry who has shown remarkable skills as a leader and role model in dealing with the broader public, peers and colleagues.

Youth in Property

This is awarded to an individual that is under 35 year’s of age. The individual should lead by example and inspire others through their tenacity and vision. There should be evidence that the person is ambitious, creative, and achieved first-class.

Township Economy Pioneer

This award recognises individuals making a positive impact in their communities, who have started successful business operations in their townships.

Youth in Technology

Honours young technologists who have made significant advancements in technological innovation,. This award is for individuals whose work has contributed to knowledge expansion and technological progress.

Youth in Agriculture

Young farmers under the age of 35 exhibiting exceptional skill, innovation, and dedication in their agricultural enterprises. (Show ID and evidence of being a farmer, show farming methods) Implementation of modern and sustainable farming techniques. (Show farming methods and polices that improve farm work and production.)

Measurable growth in farm production and profitability. (Show with numbers)

Participation in agricultural organisations and contribution to the farming community. (Evidence of involvement in events/markets/charity in the agri-economy in Durban- must contribute in some way not just attend)

Advocacy for young farmers or involvement in programs that support the development of young individuals in agriculture. (Evidence of employing, partnering, or mentoring other young aspiring agi-preneurs)

Youth in Manufacturing

The award recognises an individual who has demonstrated a strong understanding of their manufacturing environment and processes; a hands-on passion for their work; a record of commitment to training and professional development; and an ambition to excel in industry. Candidates should be able to show resourcefulness and strong problem solving skills, with a strong commitment to quality and awareness of the customer and market needs for their company.

Social Entrepreneurship Champion

This award celebrates Social Enterprise who are making waves with their creativity, innovation, and impact in their community
